Planalto Réserve I White Wine from Douro - 75cl - 2023 is backordered and will ship as soon as it is back in stock.
Planalto is a white wine regarded as one of the leading references within the Douro controlled designation of origin. It is a dry white wine with a bright green hue and intense, complex aromas combining tropical fruit, white fruit and floral notes.
On the palate, it offers a smooth entry with acidity beautifully balanced by white fruit flavours. It pairs perfectly with fish, shellfish and white meats.
Why I love it
- Its smoothness.
- Its intense aromas of white and tropical fruits.
- Its freshness alongside shellfish.

More information?
Planalto is produced by Casa Ferreirinha, the heir to more than 270 years of history and inspired by the great 19th-century figure Dona Antónia Ferreira, affectionately known as “Ferreirinha”.
The wines of Casa Ferreirinha are born from vineyards carved along the slopes and valleys of the Douro. These vineyards, rooted in stony schist soils at various altitudes and exposures, with dozens of different red and white varieties, endure harsh winters and scorching summers.
What is remarkable is that Casa Ferreirinha has had only three head winemakers in 70 years — and all three worked together at some point. Luís Sottomayor began working at Casa Ferreirinha when he was very young. He is now the third and current chief winemaker. He worked for years alongside the second, José Maria Soares Franco, who himself had been trained by the very first: Fernando Nicolau de Almeida.
