This Ruby Port comes from selected grape varieties of the Douro region. Its deep dark red colour and fresh aromas reveal notes of black fruits that linger with finesse on the palate, showing an almost mineral character. It is a young, well-balanced wine, ready to drink.

This Port is a Ruby with very limited contact with oak barrels, preserving its original flavour. It is therefore a young, fruity wine with an intense taste.

    More informations?

Niepoort Ruby ages on average for 3 years. The grapes come from old, low-yield vineyards in the Cima Corgo area of the Douro Valley. It is vinified in large lagares before ageing in big wooden vats in the Niepoort cellars in Vila Nova de Gaia.

    Tawny Port or Ruby Port?

Ruby Port ages in oak barrels for 2 to 3 years. With limited contact with the wood and low oxidation, it preserves its original taste. It is therefore a young, fruity wine with wild berry notes and an intense flavour. As its evolution potential is not very high, it should be opened within 3 to 5 years after bottling.

Tawny Port ages in oak barrels for 2 to 3 years and is then transferred to French oak casks. Due to its prolonged contact with the wood, it ages more quickly, undergoes marked oxidation, and therefore develops a more complex flavour of dried fruits such as figs or walnuts. It is a less intense and sweeter wine, with a noticeable wood presence. Tawny has a strong ageing potential and can mature in the bottle for decades.
