Niepoort I Red Tawny Port - 37cl is backordered and will ship as soon as it is back in stock.
This Tawny Port comes from selected grape varieties of the Douro region. It offers a bright, lively colour with a light nutty aroma and notes of dried fruits, good balance and a young, fruity character, with a long and expressive finish.
This Port is a versatile wine that pairs beautifully with chocolate desserts, or can be served slightly chilled as an aperitif alongside pâtés or foie gras.
This Port is a Tawny with a more complex, less intense and smoother profile, where the presence of oak is noticeable. It has excellent ageing potential and can mature in the bottle for decades.

More informations?
Niepoort Tawny ages in barrels for an average of three and a half years. The grapes come from vineyards in the Cima Corgo area of the Douro Valley. They are vinified in lagares before ageing in old small oak casks in the Niepoort cellars in Vila Nova de Gaia.
Tawny Port or Ruby Port?
Ruby Port ages in oak barrels for 2 to 3 years. With limited contact with the wood and low oxidation, it preserves its original taste. It is therefore a young, fruity wine with wild berry notes and an intense flavour. As its evolution potential is not very high, it should be opened within 3 to 5 years after bottling.
Tawny Port ages in oak barrels for 2 to 3 years and is then transferred to French oak casks. Due to its prolonged contact with the wood, it ages more quickly, undergoes marked oxidation, and develops a more complex flavour of dried fruits such as figs or walnuts. It is a less intense and sweeter wine, with a distinct wood presence. Tawny has great ageing potential and can mature in the bottle for decades.
