This Cataplana is an authentic Portuguese Cataplana, hammered and tinned with copper, made in Barcelos in northern Portugal. Due to its traditional manufacturing, this Cataplana is a healthy and sturdy utensil that will remain intact after years of use.

Consisting of 2 half-shells connected by a removable hinge and equipped with a closing system, the Cataplana allows for quick steaming, preserving the food with very little fat.

Care Tips

If you use induction cookers, I recommend the Cataplana for induction cookers.

When cooking with your Cataplana, avoid using metal objects (spoons, forks, etc.) and do not wash it in the dishwasher, with dishwasher detergents, steel wool pads, or any other abrasive product, as they could scratch the tin protective surface or the copper itself.

Never place the copper Cataplana on the fire or in the oven without adding enough liquid or fat to prevent it from drying out.

Copper changes color when heated. It is best to immerse the Cataplana in warm soapy water immediately after use to soak the leftover food. Then clean the Cataplana with a soft cloth. Do not use abrasive products for cleaning.
